Dash parts sought
Guys,
I'm after the two plastic dash lenses that cover the speedo and tacho on an 89. My mate has just bought one and the plastic lenses have crazing in them and they look pretty bad. He'd rather not buy an entire dash assembly if at all possible. I realise it's a difficult one but I thought I'd put it out there anyway. Thanks.

You can polish them Bordo. I start with 600 (I think) wet and dry, rubbing wet, then progress through 800, 1000, and 1200 before going to Super Fine - all with plenty of water applied. And finish off with toothpaste. Smells nice too at the end!
I have done, headlights and bike screens with great success.
You would have to remove them from the dash assembly though.
Cheers, SB

Depends on how bad they are and how much rubbing you want to do. There's not a lot of surface area so I'd start with #1200 wet if they're real bad or chrome polish if not so bad and finish up with toothpaste either way.
Personally I use my finger tip with the chrome polish and toothpaste.

If all else fails, having a pair cut out of thin perspex works well too.
Something the thickness of the plastic inserts they use in CD boxes between discs
would work
I did a pair for a GPZ900R a couple of years ago - looked brilliant when finished.
I've had great success using T-Cut or similar car polish or burnishing compound.
Good luck with it.
