Default Is it worth it?

Quick question if anyone might know. I was looking to get an 02 954 with headers / exhaust done already. I do not know what brand. A friend of mine told me when he purchased his 03 600RRhe was told not to do full exhaust because it relieves all the back pressure and isn't good for the heads. I was wondering if thats the case because I would hate to get a nice bike and have it go to crap quick because of that reason.

'02 954RR, 5900 miles, headers/exhaust, pristine condition
$6,900

Is it worth it?

Thanks in advance.

Wasn't sure what kind of exhaust was on the bike, just wanted to see if the price was right for it and if theres any problem with having a complete exhaust on an otherwise stock 954, as far as i kno.
Good to know u have a stock setup if i get the bike and ever (for some unknown reason [8D]) want to switch to stock.
Maybe i'll tell them 6500 or try to get them to throw in a power commander 3 usb with it.

Thanks

well that is the top price for a 954.... i would look around... full exhuast doesn't really help you more then sound unless you have a PCIII with a custom tune.. either try for a lower price and get a PCIII and get a custom tune, or look for a different bike

Right.
Will find out tomorrow if I am getting the bike, most likely not as I doubt i will be able to budge the guy down, but who knows.

pc3 mapping for aftermarket full exhausts are pretty close-what will screw you is when/if
you change gearing-then custom tune comes into play-due to the power curve changes
brought about by different gearing characteristics(did i spell that right?)anyway
happy b-day bobjoe how does it feel to be young???

Is the 954 you are looking at from a private seller or a dealership? That looks like a dealership price to me, but what would I know, I only paid $5k for mine with 1,700 miles on it... Look around! Buying something nice is well worth the wait. I find a lot of really nice bikes online. ebay, craigslist, motorcyclescan.com, ect. there are a lot of bikes out there, dont settle for the first one you see!

That seems expensive. I paid $5000 for my 954 with 4k miles, excellent condition, sold by some guy who didn't ride it much. I would say you should be able to get a similar 954 for less than 6k. Anything more would mean lots of ad-ons, and those don't necesarily allow higher prices on the selling end.

motoxxx, yes its from a dealer. good suggestions, i did see a couple of 954s on ebay for cheaper, only prob is delivery etc. but im sureI can find somethin nice close by. theres actually two 954s at the dealer both are similarily priced 6900 - 7000. I'll definitely look around some more, no point in over paying.

Thanks a lot guys, been a great help!!
