dazed, you're definitely going to need to take the flywheel off, have you done that yet?
you need to get a puller. it's just a big bolt that pushes (or pulls) the flywheel off as you tighten the bolt towards the crank.
i think it's an M20 1.5 or something. you could see if your local ace hardware or napa has one - but they're only $10 on ebay.

I had a similar crack in the same spot as the one shown in the photo's above. I got a welder to do it who welded aluminium regularly, (boats, bullbars). It was a bit hard to get to the other side of the crack as there is coolant lines etc in the way, and he had to literally get underneath the bike to get at it. He used a TIG.
I prepped it by removing the flywheel and the coolant lines, and getting rid of as much oil as possible, (acetone).
The ideal way to weld it would to have the lower case on the bench so it could be pre-heated in an oven and a special stick is used for the alumnium/magnesium content.
But this is a lot of work.
