It all runs back to the RR through the cable harness, which uses a common ground. If other electrical components are OK, then your common ground is OK.

Just for fun here, can you post what voltages your battery gives at 2.5k and 5k? Go to two decimal places.

No. The shop doesn't have anything that you don't or can't easily get your hands on.

What's your battery voltage NOW? Did you throw it on the charger?

battery voltage is 12.07. if i put the key in, the the gauges come on they just dont light up along with the head lights. and the fuel pump wont prime. but if i press the start button the motor turns over fine. i mean what would make only a certain things in the bike not get power?

Look at your R/R. You should have a black or green wire, 3 wires of the same color, and an oddball wire, usually white or red. Test the voltage on that last one. Is it 12v?

Also, remove the RR from the bike (should be two quick bolts) and inspect it for physical deformities, like melting or warped spots. When replacing it, clean the underside and where it touches the frame, and apply some thermal compound if you have any.

ok while i had all this off..their is a little yellow junction box down next to the ecm. looks like about 15 green wires (im guessing ground) go into it. the one on the very end is deffinetly fried burnt right through the box. so to by pass the box can i just splice the burnt wires into a good one? hoping this is the problem!!!

i got her running!! it was the junction box on the main harness. i used the old junction box off the headlight harness and it works like a charm. thanks everybody for your help. and espically johnnyx. if i hadent looked at the RR i wouldnt have seen the problem. thanks to all again!
