Weird noise coming from motor
Hey guys need some help here...my 954 just started making a rattling noise coming from the front of the motor in all gears. I no these motors are notorius for making valvetrain noise at idle, but this is different. As I take off I hear a rattling noise coming from the motor louder at low rpm but continues as I shift through the gears. It just started making this noise and not really sure what could be causing it. I also checked my header bolts and they were tight, checked to make sure nothing was loose around the engine causing the noise. Any ideas guys... not riding it right now because I'm afraid of hurting the motor also want to avoid having to take it in to the stealership! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey man,
That sounds similar to my bike... I have an 03 with 15k, I got it with 10k and since I have owned it, it has made the same noise... It bugs be, but I try not to let it get to me... I have tightened all my header bolts to spec, changed my CCT, and just recently changed my oil to Lucas Motorcycle oil... Nothing made any difference... Mine only goes away if im on the gas hard, other wise it sounds like marbles or chain slack with a piece of metal rubbing against it slightly... Its weird; my brother has the same bike in an 02 and his does not make any noise except on start up and it gets a little tick every now and again... Personally I think you are good... My next thing is to have a valve job done and probably change the cam chain. well hope this ease's your mind a bit, if not sorry... LOL
anyone else?
