I had the same problem with mine. Although, mine eventually wouldnt start at all. It was like yours intermittent, "not specific to gas fills" but once you got it going you could turn if off and on and back on within 10mins and it would restart. BUT it finally got so bad, I had to replace the whole pick up. Seemed to do the trick. Arrgg the time I waisted pushing, lol.
As A side note, my f2 has those brether lines in the tank, although urs is an 03 I think they still use steel tubes in the tank for breathers, there could still be a clog?
Anyway rock on! hope you figure it out soon, its almost time to ride

My son just bought an 02 954RR and today was the first time he was able to take it out. We logged about 130 miles, but before we headed out, we both gassed up.

His fired right up after the refill of gas, so I can't help with the possible cause of your not starting problem.

Sorry, Jake

i think it something related to the spark plug . not enough electrical energy to diffuse from the plug as most the electrical energy go to the starter . so that.s why it start on pushing

yes sounds like a clogged breather to me try to start it with the tank cover open and see how it goes.

My first guess would be clogged breather. Sounds really silly, but that damn thing can effect your bike significantly. Another thing to check, look in your tank for rust. Not saying the rust in the fuel is causing this problem, but it could be plugging your fuel filter. Maybe the refueling is stirring the settled rust to where it cloggs the filter. Sounds far fetched, but it is a possibility. 20K on my 954 and have not experienced this. My buddies 954 had the rust issue going on though. Clean tank and new filter fixed it.
