RE: VALVE ADJUSTMENT
very very very very rare that a honda cbr needs a valve adjustment. if ur hearin a slight tickin thats normal wit the hondas but a loud tickin is the cam chain tensioner. if ur thinkin bout the services in which they check the valve adjustment thats just standard procedure but very rarely do they need to be adjusted.

COMES OUT MEANIN? CANT HEAR IT OR STARTS TICKIN AT 4 TO 5K? HONDA'S MAKE WEIRD NOISES BUT I GUESS THE WEIRD NOISES ARE MADE UP WIT THE MAINTANANCE FREE AREA. MUST SAY ITS THE MOST DEPENDABLE MAKER OUT THERE. IF IT IS IN FACT UR CCT ITS NOT HARD TO REPLACE JUST A BITCH FOR PEOPLE LIKE ME WIT BIG HANDS!

Yeah, the small ticking sound seems coming from underneath the gas tank, and only could hear it around 4-5k rpm, had it checked out at a local shop, technician says it's normal. Maybe it's the helmet i wore before that trapped out most of the noise, now wearing a half face helmet in summer, you start hearing alot more mechanical noise.

I'm approaching 15k and did a compression test and checked the valves.
Compression is 183 to 190, although the manual says about 174..... not sure where the boost came from.
That was on a 80 deg motor, not at operating temp.. It should be better when hot...?
And the gap at the cam lobe was checked and well within spec.
I too get the CCT tick from 2,500 to 4 k. Not too worried about it.
