Default swing arm spool

Here we go again. I have a swing arm spool that broke off at the weld. I took it to a guy that does heliarc welding to see what he can do for it. He said he can weld it back on but was concerned about the volts from his welded possibly shorting out the computer on the bike. Not to sure about this and wanted to know if any of you guys have had any welding done on your bike with everything still attached to the frame. If I have to take the swing arm off the bike, I might as well replace the swing arm, but if he can attach the spool with out damaging any electric, then obviously that would be the way to go. Thanks for any input. I feel like I have the most questions here at this forum...lol. thanks.

I would just remove the battery and make sure he attaches the welder ground clamp to a good metal ground on the bike. I had my ford ranger welded on a couple of times and didn't fry anything.

I appreciate it moosestang, I think I might try to disconnect the batt and the computer and hopefully nothing up stream will cause any damage. Thanks for the input.

i wouldn't worry about it, but like moose said, just take the ecu and battery out, and you'll be good.

Just got the spool welded back on the swing arm last week. Took the ecu and the batt out, got the welding done and installed everything back and she purred like a loud honda again. The weld looks good and is holding up good, thanks for the input guys.
