Default Stator Cover Replacement

I just bought a stator cover off ebay for the left side... and I want to know how the hell to replace it. I thought it would be a simple remove-replace. But it appears not...apparently the alternator is fused to it with loctite... I don't want to replace the whole damn thing

loctite is made so bolts dont back out due to vibrations and the like. the seal can still be easily broken with force.

locktite is just for bolts.. and is put on right before you insert the bolt. .takes a little extra force to break bolt loose so use the right size socket but can easily be removed

as opposed to the stator cover for the right side? it is a simple remove/replace put it back together just like you took it apart. If there was locktight on the bolts when you took them off, put some on before you install them.

Swapping the stator from the old cover to the new one is easy, too - but take a good look at it while you've got it out, checking for signs of overheating , etc.
The thing that surprised me when I did mine was the force needed to pull the stator and cover away from the magnetized rotor that stays with the engine - and that same magnetism just about yanks it out of your hand when you're re-installing the new cover and stator on the engine. Otherwise an easy job.

Well, I just did it this afternoon. It definitely wasnt as easy as I expected... not just a "pull cover off, put on new cover." I guess I was a bit surprised that you need to transfer all that electrical coil/rotor stuff from the old cover to the new cover, which was bolted on *really* tight. And the old gasket basically disintegrated so I had to scrape it off of the bike and clean it off before I used a new gasket and sealant. But all in all, I think I have it back together properly. The bike still runs normal... for now.
