If it push starts, then it's not vapor lock. It would have to be related to the starter or battery, those are the two things you bypass when push starting.

Of topic, but what gear do you push start in? I tried to push start my buell once and the rear tire just kept locking up in 3rd gear.

Found this:

https://cbrforum.com/forum/cbr-954rr...problem-42627/

In post number 7 he talks about the starter as being the problem. He says the dealership went through the entire starting system and found out there was something wrong with the starter itself. Figured this would be a good read for us besides all the pissing contests at the end.

It's crazy that the dealer would not try push starting the bike. If it push starts fine, then you know the battery isn't putting out enough cranking amps when hot or the starter isn't spinning the engine fast enough when hot.

If you can insulate the starter, then it might work for the time being, but I'd still replace it.

I ordered another used starter off of eBay and it should be here saturday. I shouldn't need to replace the starter relay correct seeing as it the starter works? I hope this fixes the problem. I know the bike turns over slower when I'm having the hot start issue so I hope this will solve it. I don't exactly have $340 for a brand new starter.

Not sure. The one I bought was only like $28.00 and looked to be in good shape but we'll see. I hope it will be here Tuesday bc of the holiday weekend. I would like to have the bike back together since I'll be off.

The starter came in and I installed it. I recommend pulling the throttle bodies to do this. I unbolted and removed it from the side. Took the bike outside and let it heat up to 220 degrees, shut off the bike, and it restarted fine. Took the bike out that night for a ride and it restarted everytime. I have yet to take the bike out on a good hard ride to test out if the starting problem is fixed though b/c of all the rain here lately. Stay tuned.

Well so far so good. The bike has restarted everytime I need it to. We have bike night tonight so I'll get to test it again tonight and Sunday on the weekly ride assuming it doesn't rain. Keeping my fingers crossed.
