Default Speedometer alternatives?

Are the speedos from any other models plug and play with the 954? I picked up a wreck for a motor donor and would like to get it running before I break it down and need to find a set of clocks to test with it.

Anyone? Anyone happen to know if the 929 speedo will work with the 954?

No not a straight plug and play ,954 have indicator relay as part of the cluster , a lot of pins the same but not all, just reading through your other post , if its for a buggy why not try an after market , clusterhttps://www.ebay.com/itm/Motorcycle-Universal-15000RPM-LCD-Digital-Odometer-Speedometer-Tachometer-Gauge-/283341987621?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10#viTa bs_0

I will use an aftermarket setup if I must, but I've tried to go that route in the past with buggies and bikes and had terrible results.

I read a few posts where people swapped 954 engine and control into 929's and got the 929 cluster to work, but no details on how. If using the 929 clock just loses some function and requires re-pinning the plug I'm all for that. All I really want to have at hand are tach, speed, temp, and the trouble light.

The 954 fan control runs through it too, where the 929 does not. Easy work around if you are using the 929 radiator with a bung for a fan switch. I don't know if the plugs are the same, but i can check if need be.

I'm 99% sure the plugs are the same but if you could check that'd be awesome.

Custom cooling circuit, anyway, so no loss there. My radiator has a temp sensor and everything is driven off that.

Yes I suppose you could do the re-pining, indicators would need a relay { if its for road as well), slight difference with the coding (Green earth on 929 is Black on 954 ,then Green from connector) , just really need to follow the wiring diagrams and existing connectors as to where the pin numbers are,if you could take pictures of the process that would be great

The 954 plug will not go into the 929 gauge cluster.

Well that’s disappointing.
