Default RE: servo motor problem

I take it you are not replacing the motor because of price? That motor helps widen the power curve. Makes it a much more streetable bike. Removing it I would have the air box like and make sure that the air flapper is in the fully open position and you somehow lock it that way. Also with the mid pipe valve you have to do the same thing. The picture above my text looks like a good job. There isn't going to be a kit that you can buy to make it work. You are going to have to come up with something and use your noodle. But just have to make sure that you are locking the two devices in the fully open position so it doesn't kill your top end HP. Why not replace the servo motor from one that is being sold on ebay for a fraction of the price? I know it is risky but hey a lot better than full pop at a dealership somewhere.

i didnt have a code to begin with and haven't gotten one after. i did alot of research on this before doing it and it basicaly said to have a straight thru flow on the exhaust, and remove or disable the air flapper. with the air flapper i simply tucked it under the intake snorkles. and the rest i described above. i had a little bit of time riding after i did this not much(less than 100 miles) i did notice some low end bog. under 3k after that it was very smooth all the way to redline thru 3rd gear. top gear roll ons at @ 55 mph were a little sluggish atlow rev'sthen it opened right up. other than that i have had no ill effects. the power come-on @ 6-7500 was alot smother and more predictable after doing this. it was less like a two-stroke and more even. (if that makes scence)

as for the code ive heard some say they have gotten it after doing something simmalar, they also removed the servo motor or wires.....if i read the posts correct..........i have also read that some have gotten the code prior to mods and it was then corrected....you will just have to try and see what happens. it all depends on what is causing the code to start with.

i left the cables connected to the motor and the brackett that bolts at the butterfly. i also removed the sheild that covers the butterfly cable attachment thing. what you see in the pic is how i left it and then replaced the fairing.

hope this helps.

is the servo motor still electricaly connected? if so i think your prob. would be the motor itself. how many miles on the bike? there is a servo motor listed on e-bay for cheap.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Moto...1%7C240%3A1318

this should solve the problem.

there may be a way to fool the computer on the bike to think that the servo is working correctly by jumping some wires. i do not reccomend this unless you are very good with electrical scematic's. (i am not) i have heard of this being done, but for $20 i wouldn't mess with the wires. some one else stated to reset the cdi and let the computer relearn the new setup. i have never done this. if you or anyone else have please post how to do it.

Get your ECU checked so that you can set the proper tuning. I face this minor issues sometimes and get it repaired from the professionals at servo drive repair after which I get proper power delivery.

Hi Smith77,
Please take a moment to introduce yourself to the forum.
Where are you from, how long have you been on two wheels, what bikes do you have etc.
We also love pictures.

The repair information is useful for people that are having that sort of problem and thanks for that, however the thread you are responding to is 13 years old so you be unlikely to get a response.

Have a good one.

Cheers
