Rear Turn signals now running lights
I recently replaced my front and rear turn signals with bulb type signals. A couple of days ago I noticed my rear turn signals were on all the time like running lights. Everything worked fine after the installation other than they flashed slightly faster than the stock ones. I also noticed that my turn signal indicators on my dash are lit all the time but still flash when signal is turned on. Any ideas?
I think you hooked them up wrong. There should be three wires on the front. One ground, one constant power (running lamp), and one blinker. If you hooked the running lamp wire and the blinker to the same filament, it would be sending 12 volts to to the turn signal module - which is most likely why the indicator is on all the time. Disconnect one of the front turn signal bulb, and it should go back to normal on that side...
I tried disconnected the front and swapped orange wires, it did not fix the problem, would having both of the fronts wired backwards affect each other? Which wire is the signal and which one is the running light?
Okay, I disconnected everything and just plugged in my original turn signals into the wire harness. It still does it. Could the turn signal relay be bad and if so can I replace it? Am I to understand it's in the guage cluster?
orange = left blink
black or green = ground
Light blue = Right blink
orange/white stripe = left running lamp (front only)
light blue/white stripe = right running lamp (front only)
This is all based on the 954 wiring schematics I got from this site. I'd upload it, but I'm too lazy.
