Power Commander Install

Power Commander Install
Hey everyone. Just a quick question on how to install a Power Commander. I found a 3r version on ebay, and got it for 100 bucks shipped. Only thing is it doesn't come with instructions. I saw on the Dynojet website that it should be very easy, and not take a lot of time. A friend with the same bike put one on his though, and said it was not as simple as it is made out to be.
From what I hear I should be able to remove the front seat, lift the tank and connect it. My buddy recalls having to remove one side fairing though. Is it as simple as the site makes it out to be, or as difficult as what my friend says?
Also, I searched the threads before posting, and didn't find anything other than people looking for maps and comparing horsepower. One person said that the PC3r made their bike run terrible. Anyone else experienced this?
Thanks in advance.

It is pretty simple. You be able to get install instructions from the Dyno Jet site.
There's even an 800 number you can call and they'll help you w/ the install & mapping.
Yes, you will need to remove seat, and lift tank up (empty tank is easiest)
Mapping is super easy on any PC, maps available all over the web.
If properly installed & mapped, your bike will run much better.
good luck!

got this done last night. i took my time with it so the 5-15 minute range was exceeded. That main plug is a pain to disconnect, but I made it happen with a pair of large pliers and a long, thin flathead screwdriver. I also took a minute to cut some notches in my battery tray for the wire to pass through which allows it to hug the subframe instead of running over or around the battery.

it runs nice. a smoother response, and maybe just a little quicker overall. i still don't know what map is in the pc though. the seller didn't provide the serial cable it uses so I have to go find one(hopefully tonight after work).
the only time i've felt the twitch you talk about is if i'm leaving a line hard, and hit 2nd really good. i like doing this though cuz i can get a slight wheel spin hitting second.

the connection on PC3r isn't like the others. It's called a DC9 Serial connector. I just payed $45 for a cable with a circuit board in it that goes from that to USB. Cost of my PC3r is now at $145. Not to bad I don't think.
So with the cable I finally got an accurate map loaded. Can't wait to head to work tomorrow, and ride a little after.
