Pop started the bike

Default Pop started the bike

Hey,
So today I got the bike pop started after thinking my battery was completely dead and wouldn't recharge well it turns out after riding the bike for about 30 mins and I went to shut it off the bike fired right back up with a little throttle so I said maybe if I run it for another 30mins or and hour or so it will charge up even more, so I did that turned it off and the bike fired right back up with no issues at all. I let it sit and idle, and also putted around on it riding it up and down the road, Do you think the battery will hold a charge now it I continue to start it up once a day and run it for a bit.

Charging the battery with a trickle/battery charger is the only way to charge the battery to its max capacity, the stator will never get it all the way charged. That said, if your battery, stator, and r/r are in good shape it should charge "good enough"

How close can the stator get it if it is in good shape, after that hour run it was starting right up with no issues.

If the battery cell are good, and you able to run the bike daily, you should not have any problem firing the bike. I ran my bike once a week and did not have any problem, let alone you re running daily.

Battery trickle/charge/tender....is fairly cheap. Amazon sells the jr size del tran for $22 shipped, harbor freight sells the cheaper one for $9.99....

I sometimes will skip a week or two so I hook it up to a tender....many members here say, the tender will pay for itself in the long run, by extending the life of battery itself. I use it for my car & bike....

Well I am trying to avoid putting it on the tender again, Basically it wouldn't even fire from sitting all winter. After we pop started the bike it fired up, It almost died after a 20-30 min ride after I turned it off and tried to restart it but it had just enough juice to fire up, So I let it run for another hour riding it around, after that I turned it off and it started up easy. So i am hoping all is well and now that the weather is warmer I shouldn't have any issues firing it up tomorrow.

In order for your battery to charge up while riding,you need to have your RPM's above 5k.I strongly suggest you get a battery tender if you plan on not riding it for over a week.

The only true way to know for sure is your battery in condition is to have it load tested w/ a meter. My bike sat for five months, IDK how old the battery is, and on that time I started it three times, and only one of them I let it run warm, the other two I just checked it will start, no tender, battery hooked up all winter, when I tried to start it in spring, it didn't fire, but the starter worked at full power even when I started it for long and many times, hooked it in a charger for two hours when I serviced the bike and it's working like it would had been in daily use all winter.

Above 5K rpms really? I rode around probably around 3-4K mostly and it seemed to hold the charge just fine, it fires right up now with no issues. Why would it need to be at 5K to put any any type of charge that seems a bit high

The stator is always putting out voltage, peak is probably around 5k. Anything above idle speed is probably making enough power to overcome the demand, so it will slowly charge the battery.
