Mine is not that loud, but I do not have the HTEV since I have a full system.

that's not good for a 6k motor, what i'm hearing sounds like a knock (more of a tick) - but its not as prominent - its almost like its the background. how cold was the motor when you took that vid?

well heres my problem the case is cracked on the stator side has jb weld on it other wise it runs and shifts good how much $$ should i ask for the engine ? with radiator and ecu harness .

 

It has plenty of oil. It was 190 when I took the video.

My cold start rattle is in the top end.

 

well just keep an eye on it.... it may not be the end of the world....

 

It runs fine, don't burn any oil, atleast the level always looks the same.

It almost sounds like something is vibration under the gas tank. I'll investigate further when I change the plugs on Thursday.

Oh, I installed an ape manual CCT to see if it would solve the rattle at start up and it did not. People say the HTEV rattles on a cold start, but isn't that under the bike in the exhaust? This rattle is from the top end.

I'll get a video of the cold start rattle, but I think it's the valves

 

it's almost impossible to hear anything other than just the sound on a video... sometimes you can tell what it is from the pitch, but a vid won't do any good for hearing where it comes from.


what i would do is grab an automotive stethoscope so you could pinpoint exactly where its coming from

 

Mine had a vibration and a rattle that I had 2 m/c mechanics diagnose to be the act and 2500 miles later, im holding 2 pieces of crankshaft in my hand!!! Everyone says this is q "loud" engine but id definitely get the stethoscope and investigate further. Just my. 02

 

MY 13,000 mile 954 rattles, and ticks a lot. Runs great though. I put almost 5000 miles on it and I just got used to the noises. I had a tech check it out and gave it a clean bill of health.
