Default Are our engines noisy?

I found a post talking about the 954 being noisey.

Which 'Blade - 929 or 954?

Mine definitely isn't super quiet. It has a rattle that lasts 1-2 seconds on a cold start and then a duller rattle when it's hot. You might be able to hear it in this video.

MVI 0276 - YouTube

Unrelated to the noisy motor, but I checked my header pipe temps with a infrared thermometer and the second one from the left in the video is 60-80*F cooler than the rest. The others were all over 400F. I'm going to change the plugs on Thursday. Does Honda really recommend changing spark plugs every 5,000 miles?

the big rattle on cold starts should be the HTEV.

moose, i don't want to worry you, but it sounds like you may have some sort of piston slap going on in your video (if your's is the second one)....

anyone else hear it?

and yes, the motors are loud

OK, I saw some old posts saying 8k for plugs and as low as 5k, but haven't looked in the service manual.

that's my bike in the video. If the original owner was honest, then it only has 6k miles now.
