oil pickup
ok does anyone here run oil pickup??? i just to OD overfilling my oil just so i dont starwe my engine while am on a wheelie... but i talked to ppl about it and lot of them said that is not good for ur enging bc the pressure...etc and other thing is i can not find oil pickups for 954! they have them for f4i all over the place and for gixxers but not for 954's...i need one even for my stunt bike 636 but they dont make them eather....
I cant say that i have ever dropped the pan in my bike so i dont know for sure, but i was under the impression ours was already in the back of the pan. I know like my Gix, the pickup was in the front, so when wheelied the oil would flow to the back away from the pickup, where the 54 does not have that problem i dont think. Maybe someone else can verify that 100%.
good one... i never even though about that!!! our **** might be in the back all ready....ill have to find out, no bc when i do like 15 second wheelie on my 636 the oil pressure drops to 0 so i over filled it with oil,and now its all good. But the 954 rideit out for ever and the light never comes up,but i know the pressure drops thoug....
on 54s and 29s, the pickup is near the back of the pan. (i have dropped the pan multiple times on both of them) no need to worry about oil starvation on these bikes (although to be on the safe side i overfill my engine 1/3 to 1/2liter. NOT a whole liter, like some people say). (you can also verify this by looking at the manual-it shows a diagram, ie: where the oil pickupis exactly,in the lubrication chapter) A little known fact that honda designed the oil pickup to be in the back of the bike technically for 'hard acceleration,' where the oil will be pushed to the back of the bike momentarily. the 900rr had the oil pickup in front, and engines were seizing... not after hard acceleration, but after long wheelies!
as for your 636, i cant see how no one makes an oil pickup for it, seeing as how a lot of pro stunters are using them. you might call stuntex (www.stuntex.com ... the 636 is not listed on their website, but their site is really old)
