Default Noisey htev and which way does it go.

My htev valve is clanky at idle. I took the pulley off and now I'm not sure if this is right. The manual just shows it in the straight down orientation. This is how it is at idle, is that right or do I have the wires crossed? I can push in on the pulley and get the noise to stop, so do I just need a stronger spring? It makes it sound like a rods knocking at idle, not quite that loud, but still annoying me.

The position is correct for idle,It should point to the top at 3k rpms and point down above 8k.As far as that sound,I removed mine so don't know what to tell you.

it looks right to me. if you had it set up wrong and it doesn't turn all the way - it'd throw a code. it could have excessive carbon build-up....

i took my valve out too... there's a bolt and nut where the hole for the valve used to be....

Aftermarket exhaust will fix that right up for ya! I was amazed at how much that whole assembly weighed when I removed it.....

I took the valve out and it was pretty clean. I put some high temp grease on both ends and reinstalled it. Not sure how long that will last, but it made a difference.

The valve is pretty interesting idea. I thought it was just some sort of butterfly valve to reduce noise, but it actually causes two of the pipes to dump into the other two.

I tried the three different positions at idle, servo disconnected, and there was a noticeable difference in sound with the valve in the straight down position. It was deeper.

So I'm reading there is a noticeable loss in power when removing the htev, assuming you don't have a power commander. I'm going to take the valve back out and put a bolt/nut through the hole with some washers. A little black rtv sealant for good measure. I all ready removed the flapper from the air box and despite what I've read online, I feel a nice increase in power, at least at part throttle/low rpms.

Well, I was expecting a dip in the mid range and I sure got it. It falls on it's face around 7k and then takes off like a rocket. The valve is going back in.

It was also harder to start with the valve removed. Took two times before it would turn over.

Does anyone have just the valve they'd like to sell? There's a 929 one on ebay for $30, but all I want is the valve. I want to try and modify a stock one by drilling holes
