Default New here

Hey guys (and maybe some gals). My name is Tyler and I just recently picked up a 2003 954RR. I'm from Menomonee Falls, WI which is one of the larger suburbs of Milwaukee. Like all of you, I can't wait for the roads to clear up (so much sand!) and get my new bike out! I am 21 and this is my third bike and by far the most powerful and lightest. My first bike was a 96 CBR 600 F3, my second was a real nice 2000 Honda Superhawk with an awesome CBR style sticker set and Sharkskinz lower fairing, I regretted selling the thing the moment I got rid of it.

A little bit about the bike. Like I said, its a 2003 954 with just over 8700 miles. The bike has been down at slower speeds but none of the plastics are cracked and most of the scratches arent' that bad at all. All I really plan on doing is touching up some of the bigger stuff as best as I can and calling it a day. It runs and drives great (for the 20 miles I've driven it at least :P) and I got a great deal on it so the minor damage doesn't bother me a whole lot. The bike is currently stock, but appears that the huge rear turn signal/license plate assembly was removed. I have ordered up a Two Brothers M2 aluminum flange-on muffler, the stock is just way too quiet.

I plan on replacing the rear brake pads, Would I be able to run the EBC Sintered pads or can I not run sintered with stock calipers/rotors? Not really sure what these things came with to begin with

So what do you guys think of my $4500 954? Would you spend a lot of money trying to make it look perfect or just touchup the big stuff and try to clean it up as best as possible? Some pics are below, I noticed the flash makes it look more orange than red. I'll have better pics once spring rolls around and I can clean it up/touch it up.

Welcome, and you will find a lot of other wisconsin riders here too btw. As far as brakes the sintered are fine, i run them on mine. As far as cleaning it up, hey its your bike, your money, do what you like. I know people that roll completely stock, or spend their life savings making it look unique. Do what you like, just keep riding

welcome. nice purchase. If you want to stay cheap, motorcycle fairing are easy to paint with some patience, reading, and a couple of tools/materials.

Where would you suggest I start reading on painting fairings? I'll probably just touch it up for this season and maybe see about repainting it next year.

I may have to make a trip up there. I've never ridden outside of the greater milwaukee/madison area. You guys should let me know ifyou ever head down this direction.
