Can the stock chain still be used when you go -1 tooth on the front sprocket?

Thanks TK! What do you mean by "get the right pitch for your chain"? If the pitch was not correct for the -1 sprocket, wouldn't I need a new chain?

As you can see, I'm new to bike mods - sorry for the dumb questions!

530 stock chain....get 530 sprockets. 525 chain.....get 525 sprockets. 520 chain.....520 sprockets. Thats what Tk means. I would recommend -1 in the front and +2 in the rear, you will be fighting to keep the front end down but you can manage. Have fun with it and welcome

I'll be buying a 954 this winter/spring, keepingmy eye out for a good deal now also and I'm wondering what type of difference going -1/+2 makes on the bigger bike. I had -1/+3 on my F4i and really enjoyed the torque but absolutely hated the lack of top end (rev-limited 6th at 148). What kind of top end will I and the other guys be looking at when changing sprockets?

Hot Bodies undertail if it doesn't already have one ... is a nice mod.

If you're coming from a 600 or are new to bikes altogether you don't need to do very much of anything, just learn to ride it and respect that throttle. This is MUCH more powerful than what you are used to. I don't do much constant riding at 148 mph so unless you're on the track, if this is a problem for you, I hope you have some magical recipe for avoiding the police.

I have a -1 front sprocket and stock rear, but it's all 520 pitch stuff, so lighter and quicker. I was actually thinking in the future I might take it back to stock, at least the front sprocket (teeth #), just because it's so wheelie-happy. Of course that can be fun sometimes. Welcome to the forum.

What up I went +2 on the rear Sprocket only. Not quite as wheelie happy but it does help me get into the sweet spot quicker. Throughs the speedo off another 4 1/2%. I would alsosay a power commander, slip on pipe and custom map. It smoothed out the rough spots at lower rpms and I'm getting better fuel mileage.
