I ended up leaving the bike and taking the train home. A 2 hour ride took me 5 hours. I'm thinking it may be the kill switch too but I can't take it apart til next weekend.
But looking at the motion that I did at the gas station, are there any wires that could have touched a ground. Stop at gas station, put bike in neutral, hit kill switch, put
Kick stand down, turn key off, lean bike, turn handlebars and step off. In that general area, are there any hot and ground wires in the same area. Under the radiator, by the forks that could have touched? Handlebars? Something?

If it is the kill switch then, i am going to buy a new one and try it out but online, unless i buy OEM, ebay doesnt have many 954rr kill switch, so is there anyones that i can take from another bike and still be the same. ebay has alot of 600rr and 1000rr kill/starter switches but they look different.

my bike had the sane problem and it was the switch. the po informed me of this problen and tol ne hr just soldered the wires together and took the switch out all together. now i have a huge hole where the switch use to be that the po covered with electrical tape. bike works fine though . just have to use the key for on/off or throw down the kick stand while in gear to shut it off.

so i got my bike back yesterday and im looking at the killswitch wire harness... i ordered a new kill switch and i can always return it if needed but i am looking at my old one and the wire harness... which wires do i put together to bypass it. There is a white and black that goes into the actual switch and i spliced them together. was able to jumpstart it with the battery but the moment i take off the battery, it shuts off. until i get the new kill switch, i want to try messing with the old one to make sure that everything is okay, any help to test would be awesome
thanks again everyone

don't know if this is any help, but I own/ride gs500e (passed this Feb on a2). Owned bike 6 months, never had prob starting. Other day everything went dead as soon as I hit the start button. all light and everything else fine until I hit electric start. After minute or so if left key in on position everything came back to life. Upon hitting start, everything dies again. Noticed a click just before everything went dead, fuse fine. Found my red wire was earthing to frame and this is what was causing probs. Sorry if this don't answer your question but everything fine but earthing prob killed the works. Good luck with it, Robbie.
