My new-to-me 2002 954RR
Hey guys and gals,
I was fortunate to get a good deal on a locally owned 954RR yesterday so can officially call myself an owner now.
The bike needs cosmetic (and some mechanical) love, but after I sorted out its low tire pressure issue rides very well and is exceptionally comfortable compared to my other bike (as hoped for!).
The bike I purchased is a 2002 model with 24,929 miles on it at the time of purchase. I bought it from a police officer about 50 miles from home and feel I got a good price on the bike overall (I paid $3500 for the reference of others currently in the market, but it needed a new battery at the time of purchase, so already paid for that too). The seller and I bought felt comfortable with the terms of the sale, and I have to say it feels like a really enjoyable bike that will take me a long time to really exploit since I'm a newer rider.
The bike currently has a 2 Brothers Racing exhaust and some frame sliders, but these are the only verified mods. I have no idea if the bike has been tuned, but my guess is that it hasn't been. It was a terrifying ride home as I didn't realize the tire pressures were suicidally low, but that was all rectified today and she feels terrific now!
It feels great to have my dream bike, and you can be sure I'll be babying her and taking my time to get to know her.
Enough talk, on to the pics! Please excuse her dirtiness as the cleaning/degreasing process has yet to take place.

Thanks a lot you guys. Since I'm newer to the game (started riding after completing my MSF last summer) I'm pretty careful about riding conditions and am definitely a weather weenie for now. However, that being said, I've enjoyed 4 good rides on my new bike so far (3 after pumping the tires up to recommended pressures) and I sure love this machine. Yes, it's undoubtedly way too much bike for someone of my skill level, but the good news is that my desire to stay safe and my self control should be able to keep me out of trouble.
I was practicing slow speed maneuvering on the 954RR yesterday and was pleasantly surprised how well it handles in my novice hands. Although it's heavier than my Daytona 675 I found it's also a real sweetheart and I really look forward to fixing this bike up and making sure it's a safe and long term fun vehicle for me. You can be sure I'm really enjoying it, and thanks again for your words of support.

Thank you CBR-Mike,
I swapped out the clutch lever yesterday (for a new OEM unit) and had a nice ride afterwards. It's been a great bike for me so far, and extremely comfortable to ride. I'm intimidated of the power once revs cross about 7000 RPM, but that's OK with me and I'm playing it safe as I get to know the bike.
