Usually I try to stop every hour or so for 10 minutes or so. On the way back I had my 16 year old daughter on the back so we stopped a little bit more often.

For me it's not so much the 50 minutes vs 1 1/2 hours between breaks that's the issue. With my tank and milage I can go 2 hours without having to fuel up.

I have set a limit of 600 miles a day as the total number of miles each day has more of an effect on me regarding recovery and riding the next day than the frequency of breaks.

 

A mate put 196,000 kilometres on his 929. No work needed on the engine. He only ever used standard car oil for changes.

Me and two of my friends did over 1000Kms in one day! One friend on a 2004 R1 the other on a 2005 ZX10 and me on my 2003 954. By the time we were done we could barely walk...I got home and hit the bed and slept for 14 hours! It was a nice ride until the last hour or two.
