Default Low Oil Light / How bad?

Okay, so I got my brakes on . . . great. Got everything back together and the drag is getting better . . . great. HOWEVER, halfway through my50 mile ride today I noticed that my low oil light was coming on and off. When I got home to check there wasNO OIL IN THE WINDOW.

Now, when I say no oil, I mean none at all. I can't even lean the bike over and see any. I added 1/3 quart of oil (what I had left) and still cant see anything. I changed the oil about 4 months (roughly 1000 miles ago) and it was perfect.

How low should it be when the light comes on and how low should it get from just riding?

I can go 3k miles and my level never changes. Do you blow smoke out the pipe at all? Get to lookin for leaks.

Like tk said, it should not drop. The lights are usually made to come on before it reaches a harmful level, but you want to get her filled back up asap and do as tk suggested.

Replaced the oil. No leaks and holding level after a good day of riding.

BBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUTTTTTT, now the rattle that I posted on the CCT thread has gotten so bad all of a sudden i am scared to ride the damn thing. The rattle is so bad that it starts at around 2RPM and just gets louder though the whole range.

WTF?

I guess I am going to order an APE manuel CCT. Replace it and see where that gets me.

Its possible you did some damage with the oil being that low, but the cct is a good cheap place to start.

enless you cooked the cam bushigs, cuz the lack of oil being pumped to the top of the engine... doubt it- I have seen that before though- look for really bad discoloration on the cam bushings.
