Default LoJack

So i just moved home from Japan back to the states and my 954 is now residing in a big city. Is it worth it to get LoJack installed on my bike? And does anyone know how much i should pay if so? I think one of the local shops is trying to screw me over.

BTW i am new here, I ride an 02 CBR 954.

Which big city? Look up the stats for stolen motorcycles in your city, evaluate the neighborhoods you're likely to frequent and then decide. What other security devices do you have on the bike?

A good disc lock is the start of a good deterrence system. Add an alarm on top of that and most bike thieves will prolly pass you by, looking for a bike less likely to 'blow their cover'.

As the OP mentioned, does any one know the approximate cost of a LoJack on a bike? According to the LoJack website there are no dealers for it within 100 miles of my zip code and LoJack has not returned my email inquiries.

I have a Scorpio i900 alarm but a little added protection would be nice if the price is right.

Have you tried a car stereo and alarm shop? When I was looking for bike alarms I went to a shop that could do it. But they didn't specifically advertise motorcycle lojacks.

Living in Vegas.... I am not in such a great neighberhood and currently my 954 is a daily rider for about the next 4 months. I won't really be leaving it around too much and it will be Garage Kept....

I went to a Ride Now and the guy quoted me $995 when he saw my reaction he asked how much i was willing to pay, I said that i expected less than $700, and he said he might be able to do that.

I don't want to buy from a shop if they won't tell the truth, now i am not sure the LoJack is even worth $700.

I will look at some alarms.... any other suggestion? I do have a Brake lock and i use it. So maybe an alarm would be enough.

Recently?

I just had a friend say he was Quoted 600 in NC about 3 years ago.... But does anyone think it is worth it? I heard through the rumor mill that it can be removed in under an hour nowadays, so that might not be enought time to get ahold of the cops.... any ideas?

Not too many places to hide security eq on our bikes. So I'd imagine the hour estimate was generous.

Reviews of motorcycle alarms. I put a Cyclone 866F in my bike and I'm satisfied. But my bike is secured by a ****** wire fence at night and while at work.

Edit:
Ok, why is barb.ed filtered by the forum?
