Insurance !?!
The only way you should by liability "one way" is that you own you bike & have health insurance provided from your work or other source. Worst case scenario if any accident, sure you would damage your bike, but your body is most important. Hospital bill??? ER cost $$$
I pay $99 per year for both my bikes, liability only.
A bank is only going to require insurance if they hold the title as collateral. A personal loan or signature loan, there is no collateral other than your word. A signature loan through my credit union is 12.25%.
Damn, liberty mutual quoted me $24/month for pl/pd (liability only) and $50/mo full coverage. In the winter months I can drop it down to storage/comp only. A lot of insurance companies don't let you do that. So figure since I can't ride for 6 months a year it'll be on storage cost, down to like $10/mo
When you store your bike, can you just cancel the insurance? Then reinstate later when ur ready to ride?

Yes. Thats what I did with my last two bikes. And they give you a good amount of money back if you paid in full.
Then they started asking questions and I got annoyed and switched to a much cheaper company. But I dont plan on cancelling with my current bike..
I could, but might rather just keep the comp coverage, you know just in case my garage collapses from excess snow weight on the roof or someone gets slick and tried to steal it. But if I just go pl/pd coverage I would cancel it. Of course they don't want you to do that and make it sound harder than it really is to reinstate a new policy. Not sure how it'll go, just have to see how much comp coverage actually is for storage then make the decision.
BTW I have progressive and I pay $135 a year for liability.
not in MI, keep the plates. insurance & dmv are totally separate, just gotta show proof of insurance to get the plate. in the past I got my plate then cancelled the insurance and just rode without any. trying to be somewhat legal this time around
