Default Idle issues

My bike roughly and abruptly idles at around 1100-1300 rpms. I checked the exhaust and the the HTEV has been removed...the bike also comes with a PCIII...

I tried adjusting the idle by turning the idle speed screw but it seems there is no change. The weird thing is, sometimes the idling shoots up to 2k rpms, then goes back down...

What's wrong? any solution???

Your idle is where it should be 1200 +/-100. Now the idle screw might have come loose that is why you can't raise or lower the idle speed.

If it shoots up to 2k on a cold start, thats normal.

Our bikes have an 'auto fast idle' similar to cars.

But yea as letsride stated bouncing between 1100-13 is normal idle rpm

It actually shoots up to 2k while i'm riding...when i decelerate to slow down at stops, sometimes the rpms stay at 2k...it's weird...

With regards to the idle screw, where do i check if it's loose?

I'm getting frustrated with my idle problem...I just rode my bike downtown, and the idle often shoots up to 2k rpm and stays there. The temperature is way in the normal temp, so why does it stay there? When i start the bike and allow it to heat up properly, it shoots up to 2k due to the auto fast idle, then when the temps are within range, it goes back down to 1200-1300rpm....

the tps on the side of the throttle bodys could be acting up . you power comander could cause it too do you have a work shop manual ? symptom charts always help . if i were you i would unplug your pc and plug back in the throttle bodies back to stock and see how it runs . power comanders cause drivability problems all the time iv had it happen . also check for vacume leaks too . just take your time you will figure it out bikes are super easey !!! process of elimination ! if you dont have a work shop manual get one asap!

PC3's have a throttle position setting that can be calibrated.

hey everyone...i brought my bike to my mechanic-friend to see what the problem was with the idling. Lo and behold, one of the tiny parts in the throttle assembly was missing, therefore messing up the idling, throttle response and a/f mixture to say the least.

having repaired the problem and cleaning the throttle bodies as well, the bike now idles smoothly, throttle is very crisp and power at the right rpms...plus since my buddy is also a guru at suspension tuning, he made some adjustments to fit my weight and riding style. Now i really enjoy my bike...the difference is like night and day!
