Default glad to be back

hello all, I sold my last cbr 954 a little less than 2 years ago, I loved the bike but had to move with the army and decided it would be best to just be rid of it for the time being. As soon as I got to fort lewis i had to deploy for a year. I just got back and bought another 954. I sure did miss it. I was able to get a 2003 for 3200 dollars. I think the mileage may be a bit high at 19k. It had a few scratches that I fixed most of. It also had akrapovic slip on sato rear set and scotts steering damper plus frame sliders. It has the pirelli diablo corsa3 tires. Not sure how much to trust them as I don't really know how many heat cycles are on them. Also has frame sliders. The mileage raises my eyebrows a bit. I mean I dont feel too bad about it and the bike is 7 almost 8 years old, i have just never had a bike with that many miles, anyway its good to be back.

hey man, glad to hear youre back on two again. thanks for your service. as far as your bike goes, that's an awesome deal. the mileage is no big deal. you may hear some valve clicks if they weren't adjusted at 16k like they were supposed to. get that checked out if you do. there's a guy on another forum who just turned 200k miles, so don't worry about the mileage, just keep up on the maintainence. those pirelli's are sweet. if they have a lot of tread on them, go for it. they're sweet tires, with the multiple compounds and everything.

welcome back, happy ridin'

edit - i have 18.5k miles on mine, and everything is all good.

Thanks for the maintenance advice, I will definitely make sure to stay on top of that. As far as the tires go there is plenty of tread left on front and rear. The sides of the tires have gotten pretty hot at some point, very small amount of blue ing is visible, as well as it looks like someone took sand paper to them. I will just make sure they are good and warmed up before I feel them out.

sucks to hear someone scuffed them. the guy needed a new tire and probably had a ride to go on the next day. i know that when you scuff tires (which nowadays you don't need to do, your tires are good to go after 15/20 miles) it causes them to heat wrong... that could be what have caused the blueing...

you should be able to visually inspect the tire, and if its warped, you may want to think about a new one...however, if it's good, then you should be good to go.

yeah im not real sure what the guy who had it before me did to them. The weird thing is they have a small amount of rubber built up on the sides where the tire turned blue a bit, but that spot is also a solid inch from the edge of the tire. I ve never seen someone riding hard enough to heat up the tire like that, and not even use all of the tire.
