Thermostat should be around the 120's. Each bike varies a little, so give or take some degrees. If its fairly cold out, the bike usually doesnt get hot enough to turn the fan on. Thats is unoess, your stuck in traffic from redlight to redlight. If you want to test it, just crank the bike and not move it. Wait about 5mins or so and see if the fan kicks on. But it should kick on the 120's around and about...As for the speedo being off....The previous owner may have geared the bike. Geared meaning, he put either a smaller sprocket on the front or a bigger sprocket on the rear. Most people actually do both front and rear. The gearing causes the bike to stay in a higher RPM range which in return throws off your speedo and makes your bike roll the mileage over fairly quick....This modification gives the bike very good exceleration, and IMO its a MUST, LoL

Mine is geared -1 (front) and +2 (rear) and i love the gearing...=-)

correction is needed, the fan kicks on about 220 not the 120 as mentioned above, speedo is most likely because of a gearing change, count the teeth on the front and rear sprockets,to correct it I suggest a speedo healer.

The same thing happened to me when i first got my RR. I was wondering how the bike could operate at such a low temp(around 120 C)then i realized what i dumba$$ i was and changed it to F.

Only time fan comes on is when I get seriously stuck in traffic due to an accident ahead or what not. It usually kicks around 218degrees.
