I'm done being paranoid with my bikes - I've had several new-ish Hondas over the past few years and it's seriously not worth it to fret about noises and minor issues until they become regular. None of the noises on my VLX, 919, or 954 have ever amounted to anything other than a big bill from the mechanic.

Ride the bike, take care of it, and be mindful of things, but don't overly worry about little noises unless there's obvious performance issues as well.

HC go to Radio Shack and get some shrink tubing and wrap your RR wires. May help a bit anyhow to keep them from melting together.

*********the shop didnt find anything so i decided to resort to the little bit of eletrical enginneering that i know. Bigger wires can carry more load without as much resistance = less heat. I took my old stator, cut it all to peices, rewired it from 16/18 gauge wire to 12 gauge wire, installed it, and rode 400 miles in the last two days with a "hell yea" performance. Sure its just a band aid but it frucking works at city speed, high way speed and 140+mph. good enough for me. Wish i would have known that $800 dollars ago.***********

Glad to hear. Like you said though, too bad you had to waste the 800 clams.

Thanks guys! all i gotta say is damn it feels good to be back on the road. i rode another 150 miles today. Putting on a new tire tomorrow along with chain and rear sprocket that shiz has been sitting in the garage since i had no need to install it while it was broke down. Planning to ride to virginia here in a couple weeks and hit the country twisties! and then stay with a friend at an all girls college

HC, good to hear that you are back on the street.

Diablo, perhaps you need a valve adjust..? If you were local I'd just swap the CCT for you. For some reason they are not too bad for me to replace... I'm not gloating, just saying.
