I was just wondering if there is a turbo charger for the 954 because I would love to have one.

 

I have definitely seen turbo 954s before but they were all custom kits

there are a few 929 turbo kits on the market

In my experience turbos are not worth it. They are a pain in the *** to tune, they add weight, and make the bike kinda sketchy in the turns. My friend has an 07 gsxr 750 with a turbo kit (slow boys racing) and it only makes about 160-165(forget the actual number)at the rear wheel on a dynojet dyno. Its fun in a straight line, but he killed the bikes handling. In my opinion, it would be cheeper, and more beneficial to sell then 954 and pick up a bike with more power if thats what your looking for.

 

160-165... something is wrong then, a turbo usally adds around 100hp.. and 07 750's have about 135 stock

It would add that much hp if you had forged internals, and a whole lot of other supporting mods. His is a stock engine with 5psi. More could be extracted, but it would begin to be unreliable, or atleast more so then it already is. Another problem is that when the turbo spools up, its a noticable rush of power... a very bad thing to happen mid turn.

As far as 100hp.I don't think so. My car only gained about 60hp (at the wheels on a mustang dyno)from 7psi, and thats pretty respectable. I've always heard about 10hp per lb of boost under really good conditions. Either way, I would think you would need to do alot of headwork to the bike to get that much hp out of it.

07' gsxrs do make 135 at the crank, less then that at the wheel. That was measured on a dynojet, I'm not sure how they compare to other dynos. As far as cost? His was the first in the country I belive, and it was around 4500 with tuning. Is it fun? yes. Is it fast? yes. Is it worth it? NO.

If you want to go fast in a straight line then get a busa or something. The cheeper alternative is just use nitrous. If you want a turbo bike, then by all means go for it, just don't be dissapointed with your minimal gain for top dollar.

 

unless you are gonna drag it turbo's suck. Think about it. If the setup was so great you would at least see a few of them everyday riding around. But you dont, you see them in mags n heard about that guy in the other county that has one bla bla bla.

someone on here not to long ago did a custom turbo for there 954....it was a cool thing and i might invest in one down the road but i do know one thing...it sure was a big ugly part hanging off of the side of the bike...but i have priced turbos and for the price of a good turbo install including the cosmetic look after it is complete will run about $6000...thats new turbo, parts and labor of install, tuning, and to make it cosmeticaly look good on the bike.....this is the same price of a new bike....so i will have to be really bored and win big at the casino's before i do that...
