Cooling????
I am going down to Austin for the ROT rally in two weeks. You can barely move on 6th street so the bikes get hot really fast. Plus there is so much heat anyway from the thousands of bikes all jammed in one area. I was just wondering if someone new how to keep the bike cool. I have heard of wireing a switch to your fan to turn it on whenever you want. Does anyone know how to do this?

You can run it to a toggle switch, there are two wires one hot, the other ground. Could run a straight wire from your battery to toggle switch to the fan.
OR
They make coolant that makes your bike run cooler which is what I would recommend one brand right off I can think of is wix- called Wixcool. Wetter water I believe is another. Some are additives to your coolant, others replace it all together. I would flush your coolant, and put some of this stuff in there Wix coolant additive I know works great along with some of the fresh green coolant. She should run cool as ever.
Better that than chopping up your fans wiring harness, with a out of place toggle switch.
However a thought came to mind you could also make the fan come on with the switch. either way I hope this helps.

my fan comes on around 216 and usually gets it down to under 210 and it cuts off. 220+ for extended periods of time is not good. theres a few times that 220+ happens to me, if you get going around 20 mph and pull the clutch in and coast, that will get the temp down pretty quick. dont know how feasible that is if you're in bike to bike traffic at all times.

It is bike to bike traffic for blocks. You cant even let the clutch all of the way out in first with out running over the guy in front of you. I guess I could turn the bike off and leave the ignition on with the fan running. I am just looking for easy cool down mods for this trip. Any other time I will be out hitting the twisty's.
