Hi all looking for a bit of advice with a recent problem on my 954. After getting caught in really bad weather on a recent ride the morning after the bike was showing the RED light and FI on the display checked the manual and lights correspond with code 35. had the fairings, tank off to do all the checks and everything looks fine. I think the e/servo motor has gone bad. the bike runs fine and actually sounds a bit gruntier although a slight loss of power in the low revs i suspect. My question is instead of replacing the servo could i swap it for a servo buddy and remove the flap in the airbox? any advice would be helpful .especially if youve had this problem and sorted it. cheers

 

ya, i used to have an HTEV delete module on mine. no HTEV, no flapper, no servo motor (it doesn't really affect power at all)


anytime you see "flapper mod" or anything like that - that's what it is. take that flapper in the airbox off.

you can tie the HTEV on the exhaust open with wire - or you can just rip the valve out of it, then use a bolt and nut to seal up the valve hole.

you cant just get rid of the servo because it'll constantly throw a code, but there's a guy on another forum who makes modules that trick the ECU into thinking it's still there. it's dime size and you can tape it into the wiring harness.

i don't really think you can go wrong - but if i had to pick, i'd stay with the honda because of how smooth it is.

i forget who the author was in cycle world that said it - but he said "look at the irish road racers - they all seem to prefer the cbr1000rr because of how smooth it is - which is what counts on the roads they race on"

for real life, real riding - the cbr tends to be the most forgiving and easiest bike to ride - either fast or slow.


but still - there's almost nothing between the manufacturers anymore.

 

We just had the TT here in the uk and the honda pretty much dominates with the odd kawa and suzuki.

I love the 954 to bits ive done a zillion miles on it around britain and a trip across europe. The bike feels really light at the minute and the front end is like nothing is there. I suspect ill be missing this bike big time if we part company.
