chain ideas...
so my chain is shot and i have the option of buying a oem replacement chain or getting a 520 sprocket and chain combo. any suggestions or past experiences about changing chains and sprockets?
well i thought about going 520 for about .25 seconds. I can deal with alittle more weight if i get that much more longevity out of it.
with that said i JUST got my RX Gold 530 chain, 15t front and 45t rear vortex sprockets. They are currently chillin on the box with my new 2cts in em, and right next to my new pads. Yoshimura CF system is in the mail, but should be sittin next to the rest of the goodies till sat when they are to get installed.
the vortex rear (alum.) weighs next to nothing compared to the forged steel front. im pretty impressed.
when you do buy, i HIGHLY recomend 58cycle.com ... great cust. service experience, between them and vortex (the front was backordered on vortexs side so they pointed me in the direction of 58) the purchase was a breeze.

520 converison is nice but not needed really.. depends on person .. also price a combo on 58 cycle is about 150 shipped.. i did the 520 on mine. did -1 +2 and then also -1 +5 also if u go to a aluminum sprocket for weight the lifespan will decrease faster.. D&D makes good chains.. or renthal
We have a 520 chain/sprocket and Speedo Healer sale going on until the 16th of Nov. We can modify this if you prefer to stay with that big honkin 530.

So I did the 520 conversion and the -1+2 deal and got more torque, but then had an inaccurate speddometer (registered high - I wasn't really going that fast). So then one day on my way to work, I went to pass someone on the freeway and dropped the chain. It broke a radiator hose, the rear cowl, rear fender, left rear foot peg bracket, and chain guard, in addition to eating the sprockets [:'(]. Maybe I did something wrong, but this was a first. I'm now trying to replace the above mentioned parts, and having a tough time. I'm going to a salvage yard tomorrow to see what they have for the plastic, but I'm undecided if I want to stay with the 520 or return to the 530. So I turned to you, the day in and day out experts
. A lot of people have donethe 520 thing so I think that I'll stay that way, but I may change the look of the rear end a bit. Any suggestions? I'm checking prices on the above mentioned dealers also. Thanks.

You could do the 520 conversion but I would recomend you press the master link on rather than using the clip.Liter bikes have too much torgue and can loose the clip,it also happen to me,but I didn't anything other than the chain.I was going slow when it happened. I stlii have the chain and sprockets for sale if interested.
