Had to do a valve job on my 03 954. Removed the chain tensioner without using the special tool (cam chain tensioner holder). Now unable to install the chain tensioner as the bolts will not engage the threads with the tensioner rod in the extended position. Do I need to get this special tool or is there another way?

Remove the bolt from the end of the tensioner and use a small flat head screwdriver to draw the tensioner back in. You will have to hold it in place while you bolt the tensioner assembly back up. Or replace it with an ape manual tensioner while you have it off.
