Trying to complete a painting project in the cold is tough. Been there for sure!

Big night for me. I installed the determined main bearings which happened to be only one change and I'm happy with the results.

Case numbers CBCBB
Old Crankshaft 22221
New Crank 22222
Old Main bearings: green yellow green yellow pink
Final main bearings required: green yellow green yellow yellow (from left to right 12345 respectively)
I dropped the pink main in place for another yellow

Results with a .0018 wear limit, I have .0015 to okay a .0018 average. Reading plastigage is usually "its so close"...... I pushed mine to .0018 :-) probably more like .0017

I'm moving forward with the build............

I could not photo the plastigage, the polishing may have made the plastigage a little tougher to see. The right angle and light did allow a good outline; just had to work at it a bit.

The new crankshaft also requires one connecting rod bearing change. (Hopefully I will get good results like the main bearings) I picked up my parts yesterday only to find out that the part numbers I gave the dealership were correct, I just needed to order 2 pieces for one bearing......................

Time to get cleaning while I wait for the other half of the bearing to arrive.....

No, have not touched the injectors yet. I'll be pulling them before the cases go in the tank. Any tips on the best way to remove them?

Pair of needle nosed pliers , just be the suction of the "O" ring holding it in

Excellent, thanks. I was able to push the jet out from behind using a short solid plastic rod. This engine is really clean, jets look great. New o-rings on back order.

I'm thinking I may be able to pull this off

O-rings and the rest of the bolts are arriving this week. I installed the first two pistons. I still have to measure the con rods on the new crank. After this weekends shop time, I may have an engine!

Nice clean case. First two pistons in (I had to use a magnifying glass to locate the oil expansion ring gap) (uhoh)
I cut a small piece of clear plastic and wrapped it around the rod and bolts and taped it. Worked great!

So I decided I should check the crank while I'm waiting for the new O-rings. I installed both of the outside main bearings only, oiled and laid the crank in the upper case and set up the dial gauge. Turning the crank showed no movement on the gauge. I checked all 5 mains, I think I may have seen the gauge move once.....

Do you think this is a fairly accurate way to test?

If so I believe I have a really nice Crankshaft. Too bad I had to remove the two previously installed pistons to do this LOL.

Thanks
Steve

No news is good news.

I received the rest of the parts today. I am now able to complete the assembly, less a Stator, of the engine. First step, install the new o-rings on the oil jets prior to reinstalling them in the upper crankcase. I think I have determined the purpose of the jet, so I placed the oil jets in the journal in what I believe to be the optimal position. Holes at 10 and 2 and 8 and 4 o-clock aiding in the distribution of oil in the case's journals for the crankshaft main bearings. If anyone thinks this an error please let me know right away as I'll be installing the main bearings then the Crankshaft etc right away.

I will be using the Permatex motoseal powersport gasket maker for the crankcase seal (part #38401). I decided to not undercut the tranny gears at this point, hoping it just runs LOL then I'll install the shift forks and shaft after the cases are joined.
