Best Oil to run 02 954

also(i am told that) the temps that these bikes run at(180-230) is high enough that it does not matter if it is 30 degrees outside or 120. Once the bike is fully warm the oil is going to run at its own temperature regardless of the surrounding conditions as long as your cooling system is working properly. The oil is always going to be approx the same viscosity within the motor regardless of the outside temperature, using thicker oil CAN (im not saying it will) cause damage, because at 11000 rpm it creates excessive resistance on the internal parts of the motor, creating unnecessary stress, that the recommended oil would not. Its like moving your hand through a tub of water and then moving your hand through a tub of oil, the oil is thicker and will provide much more resistance, does the same to the motor.
That is how it was explained to me by an experienced tech because i asked him if i should run thinner oil in my truck in the winter. His answer is no.
Just wanted to throw that out there, not intended to create argument, just a possible explanation for the factory specs.
