anyone know the consequences or risks of riding my 954 with a blown shock?

Default anyone know the consequences or risks of riding my 954 with a blown shock?

i have been putting my crashed 954 together and its close to completion now the front shock is leaking and i have been so exctied to start riding again. are there consequences? i rode my 900rr with a blown shock for a while but was nervous. any help? im a rookie haha

you mean the seal is just leaking oil? If the seal is just leaking a little you can ride on it, you will just want to replace the fork seals before too long but its not going to fall apart on you. mine are leaking a little too so i will be getting that done early in the spring.

Make sure to watch how much oil is leaking and where it is going. As it gets worse it makes it to your brake pads.

in case there is total loss of damping, worse case scenario is death.

its just leaking, how easy is it to change the seals? they are leaking from an accident i had. thanks for all your help

Just ride on the back tire al the time and you will be fine.

I suggest you search around (anywhere) and see what a shock actually does. I guess the correct term might be dampening though. Best I can describe quickly is it keep it from bouncing violently over bumps.

Well if the shock started leaking after you got into your accident, you might have bent the fork? Causing it to leak.

how long has it been leaking? if you have been rebuilding your bike for six months and its been leaking the whole time and before your crash then that is a different story than if it just started leaking and losing its seal.
