Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum as well as to the 954. I recently sold my Honda 919, wanted something sportier. Here's a picture of it. Looks like lots of good info on this forum. One quick question, I've heard steering dampers are a good mod for the bike, your thoughts?

welcome, and depends on your riding style... they control the front end from head shakes and from harsh moves that could crash a bump if you run something over or hit a pot hole or get light in the front end while acclerating... i got a scotts, i love it, i think it's the best one out there... alot of ajustabity but yes you will pay for it.. 400 bucks new, but well worth the money, can find them used for cheaper sometimes.. but you dont save that much money becuase they hold there value.. i would go with new one... how much expierence do you have and waht kinda riding do you usually do???

 

Welcome. I have had one on all my bikes and to be honest i dont think i could ride without one anymore. They are one of the best mods for a bike IMO.

 

I installed a damper on my 954 before i had a chance to try it and I dont see myself riding a bike that is not equipped with one .. I dont consider a damper so much as a mod but more as a necessity .. that thing could save you life .. buy one .... ASAP
