Are 954's restricted ?
Many thanks for the replys.
For my friend money is not an option (you would have to see his garage collectionto beleive it and YES I am jelous).
We will be doing as Bob says above (full system, V stacks, PC3 filter and go +3 on the rear sprocket), then she will go on the best dyno thats available for the set up.
It's just that coming from Gixxers myself I would have thought that some type of restriction would have been fitted to make the 954 more 'streetable', maybeHonda got it right first time.
Here in the UK all bikes are limited to 186mph (not sure about the US), but my GSXR 750 K2 (as is other years & models)is also restricted in 1st, 2nd ,3rd gear by Suzuki retarding the ignition 2 degeres, we get around this by fitting a TRE (timing retard elimanator) which tricks the engine into thinking it's in 5th gear, NOT a great fix as you get a lumpy slightly highertick over but BOY does it make a difference.
Anyway he's over the moon with his new toy and rightly so, she IS pretty even I (a Gixxer lover) have to admit that, I dare say in a couple of weeks I'll repost here and let you know how it goes.

Bob when you say -1 down, do you mean -1 on the front
if so, 1 on the front = 3 on the back anyway
but +1 or +2 on the back sounds better anyway, 3 is a bit drastic for a litre
we'll give it a go
cheers mate

the only two restrictions i know of is the airbox dampner and the exhaust dampner ....which a full exhaust will eliminate the one in the exhaust but you would have to have a custom airbox made...cost me about $800 for the airbox...but you will need to make sure to get a tune or a pcIII or the bike will be sluggish
well a friend of mine has a tl1000 he put a yoshi full exhaust on it....then it started to foul out the plugs and backfire....so he took it to a place to fix and they said it needed to be re-maped....so took it to another guy and he pluged into it and fixed it and this bike did not have any kind of pcIII/power comand on it...now if you remove the dampner in the airbox...you have to get a pcIII because the stock system will not allow the range of adjustment needed to balance intake and back pressure

you only need the pcIII if you do the airbox....if you just do the exhaust you can re-map stock ecu...
