Default Are 954's restricted ?

Hi Guys, a closefriend has just bought a 02 954.

He's fitted a 'Blue Flame' slip on, a PC3 is on the way (not sure if he needs the O2 elimanator yet) but he just ain't happy with the performance.

What he wants to know is are they restricted like my GSXR, which needs a TRE to sort it out.

Not looking to build an unridable bike, he just wants to increase the 'grin factor'

many thanks for looking
Nick

after the year 2001 all bikes were governed at under 190 mph. the 954 is a beast in its on league, if he wants grin factor then he needs to dump some serious cash into it or get a bigger bike. cbr "rr" are not designed to go real fast straight they are race ready bikes that will out perform most bikes on the circuit track, just look whos runnin the game right now! he's gonna need more than a pc3 and a pipe to gain a large amount of horses.

+1 its a slip not a full system. The slip on is meant for weight reduction, looks, noise, and 1-3 hp. If he's going for seat of the pants feel change the sprockets.

Cheers Pimpncbr,
no he's not going to open the engine up to gain any performance, this, if any upgrade would be down to electrinic hopefully plug and play and maybe the odd mod here and there inc a full system.

I thought that the 954's had retarded ingition as the next step after the PC3 will be to fit the Dyna ingition box to get around this.

I will search the forums to see if there are any 'tweaks' that can be done to these, (on my Gixxer there is the TRE, air box mod, par valve mod etc)

i have seen ignition trigger wheels-if that is what you are talking about, however, the ignition module would be the best way to go,but if you get a good pc3 tuner you shouldnt need a ignition module-personally,
would not recommend that unless you alter the engine timing( via slotted cam spockets with a manual
chain tensioner)-i have not seen where ignition is pulled back on this model bike-to prevent a higher
top speed-but rather to save the engine from damage-a 54 engine spins at higher revs than a true 1000
(atleast in 02-03)on a stock bike
good luck with this-sounds like you are on the right trackName: thumbup.gif

If by "big horses" you mean2-3 HPthen yeah PCIII and exhaust is the way to go... If you really wanna get the most of the bike with the PCIII then a custom tune will do the trick

basic bolt ons - full exhuast, velocity stacks, air filter, with pcIII and custom tune is good for about 5-7-10 HP depending. if you want more then 10HP gain you need to go into engine
