Default 954rr hub issue

Hey all, huge fan here. Have used you all for years. Thank you so much for all the help. I finally have found something I could not find in all your threads. Bearings went out. Do I need to replace the whole wheel?

my goodness that looks nasty.
However, the wheels are cast aluminium so there should be plenty of material.
However I definitly would change the axle and the bearing.
If these are running freely and totally smooth you can probably leave it for what it is.
However I would do some very severe cleaning and brushing before installing new bearings and axle.

There is another thing I notice; you have a very short axle, and (I have a 954RR too) I have a long one running trough the whole tront end.
Do you have two? or is that one just broken?
Because the new one in the package seems to be just as short.
If this part is essential in alligning the bearing I would change the wheel if it was damaged in any way.
Because misalignment in the front axle eats bearings.

Thnx so much for the reply Chris!! That’s the original spacer and a new one from Honda. I better search the measurements to compare. I’m replacing EVERYTHING but the hub, including the tire. I have a new one ordered but would like to return it if not needed.

You're welcome.
And please remember this:
If you are crashing because of a failing front wheel, how much would it have been worth to you to prevent the crash?

In other words; don't gamble with your safety.
But also, good is still good
