954 vs 929
ALL things being equal? Well, the 954 probably. But they are sooo close that with a good vs decent rider, the 929 will win. The 954 makes anywhere from 10-4 horses more, depending on the dyno and what time of day it was, etc. I havent seen two go at it anywhere, would be close for sure, but I would guess the 954.
I just lined my 03 954rr, with just an Akrapovic bolt-on for mods, with my bodies 01 929. He is definitely a more experience rider, which is why he wanted to bet dinner on the race, but I live for racing down the straight a way!!...little did he know
Anyway, let me just say he ended up buying me dinner that night!! I stalled the very first time, little nerves, but after that it was me 3 times in a row! I think the closest he came to me was the 3rd time and that is cuz I was trying to keep it close, I won by a bike and a half that last time! Hope this gives you some idea and some confidince next time you come accross another 929, good luck!!

That kinda depends on where you wanna race. My 900 stock gearing, full V&H exhaust, K&N, Jetted would hold off my friends 02 954 stock, through 4th gear, and then pretty even through 5th, never got into 6th. So, kinda depends. At the track, I can pass 954's 1000RR's etc all day just by getting a better drive out of the corners and braking later. So, on a race track, hard to say, all depends on the rider, in a drag race, again, depends on who can keep the front end down better, go from a roll in 1st with your buddy and eliminate any rider input and go at it. Curious how close that would be.
