954 Tool Kit - Whats in it ?
Hi,
I am in the UK (if that matters regarding this) and i have just purchased a used tool kit from Ebay for my 954, i seem to have a lot of tools but want to know exactly what should be in there so i can be sure i am not missing anything.... also on the outside of the plastic bag there is a small pocket for something...... looks a couple of inches long and at the moment is empty.
Thanks

i know theres a shock adjuster tool. wrenchs for the brake calipers. im not sure if it has a preload adjuster. screw dreiver that pulls apart which i think is what the front pouch is for. i can take a pic of mine and upload it for you if you want. its not really all that useful to work on the bike its moreless of an option if your stuck on the side of the road.
A pic would be great, i too agree that its look primative but i wanted one as my bike is mint with only 5,000 miles on it, so when i come to sell i think having a full (mint) tool kit would just add to the appeal of the bike. Thanks
a tool kit is for minimal tools that you might need on a ride depending on road conditions/riding conditions change (i.e. going from just you to another person) and for small break downs.
so i'd make a kit that you put together for your bike. a lot of bolts (for instance the seat bolts) get changed from an 8mm hex head to an allen head. our bike are all 10 years old at best - stuff happens
you should find a waterproof pouch and put together your own small amount of tools that you'll need.
i carry an 8in crescent, and old 8mm and 10mm hex head with a thumb drive and small extension, 5mm and 8mm allens, zipties, c-spanner for shock, and a short 1/4 inch nut driver so i can use a flathead or phillips fittings. you can find all that stuff at a 2nd hand shop for under $10.
this is so i can get the seat and tank off (for any battery problems, fuse problems, etc), i can remove fairings, i can tie them together if i lose one of those clips, i can remove pegs/rear sets, and i can adjust forks and shocks
also make sure you're carrying extra fuses in the fuse box
but if you're doing it for re-sale value, then i'm sure you can find a list somewhere of what it came with. probably in the manual... or google

The link below shows everything that should be found in the tool kit.

Cheers for that, think i am just missing one screw driver and thats it, not bad really. I think that bikes like ours are becoming rarer as the years role on and having an original tool kit and all the other bits and bobs can help get the right buyer when the time comes to pass on.
It just took me long enough to find one.... they are getting very scarce, when finding out how much a new one would cost..... i had to sit down ! I love to see bikes being kept with all the kit they got when it was new, the original folders, tool kit, key fobs etc etc. I view owners who do this as OCD... in a nice way, they are more likely to have looked after their bikes, ie your future bike if you buy it.
