Default 954 steering damper compatibility?

I'm looking for a good used steering damper to save some money. Are there any other dampers that fit other bikes that will fit my 954 too?

Example: will a cbr f4, 600rr, 1000rr, damper fit the 954 too?

Not quite sure about the mounting hardware, but the damper itself is essentially all the same on most bikes (some with bar risers have different actual dampers). So it may be a good option to see if you could purchase 954 mounting hardware and then you could find a nice damper off of a 1000rr, 600rr, f4, etc. and use it with 954 hardware and you'd be good to go.

Which route do you want to go? Conventional, or rotary?

If you get the steering damper from some other bike may sure the stroke of the damper isn't way too long or short if you get a conventional damper. Too short offcourse it can't be or it will limit your steerings movement and if it's way too long you will have trouble mounting. I have seen GSX-R 1000:s oem damper and ZX-10:s oem damper tried to get mounted on a 954 and it got so difficult that they just sold those and got a damper that is made for 929/954. 600RR and 1000RR dampers are electronic and work whit the ecu so they probably aren't a option. The damper that WP makes for 929/954 has a stroke off 75 mm. Allso the shape of the damper affects will it fit. If your bike was a fighter you could probably wit allmost any conventional damper whit enough stroke because the fairings don't limit so much the place to mount it. Still you would probably modify the mountings or make customs mounts.
If you get mounts for the 954 they don't necessarily fit any other damper then what its made whitout modifying.

I've recently seen where someone said the gsxr 6 and 750 damper will work with a after market bracket. Don't know yet if this is one hundred percent correct though...still searching. Which honda dampers are the manual ones? I don't want the electronic one that comes stock on the 1000's. Is it the scotts or gpr? Are those the only ones?

Cause I don't think I want to go with the one inside the fairings if its too much trouble.

No, there are a lot of standard style dampers that fit between the tank and steering stem.

And there is allso dampers that go under the front fairing whit no modification on 929( Not sure do they make the same kit for 954).

You got me wrong on this. I just said if you are planning to fit some other bikes damper to 954 there could be surprisingly lot work on it. It's lot easier to get damper that is made for the 954. My steering damper is made by Matris and it's works fine. And the aftermarket dampers are better then oem dampers allso.
