Default 954 oil light comes on for a sec.

i tried doing a search for this but every word i use is to common. anyhow, i was riding the bike yesterday after sitting for about 2 weeks and it ran good. i hit a bump and the oil light came on and the motor started to die for about a second or 2 and than it would go off and the power would come back in the motor. this happened about 3 different bumps. oil level is good so what is happening???

Sounds like a loose connection. Before i tore my apart for the winter my light would come on like that. I didnt loose power though. While it was apart I sprayed every connection with electrical cleaner....No problems yet...

i was kinda thinking loose electrical connection as well but i wasnt sure if the engine would start to die. i wonder if the engine would shut off if i hit a bump with the clutch pulled in. i will have to try it. cause if you stahl i think the oil light comes on so it might be a loose ignition wire but since the bike is moving it keeps running but loses power. i will try a few things and be back with info.

There is a ground block in the headlight wireing harness that causes this problem , it's about 3/8 x 1 inch , rapped in electric tape and the wires only go in 1 side , take apart and clean connections and everything should be good

i found the ground block, yellow with tape around it as you said. i didnt appear to be dirty but i cleaned it anyways and went for a ride hunting for bumps, since that was the trigger point. first man hole the light came on and the engine died. damn it! well i did put a new battery in for this season so maybe the connections came loose. of course they are tight!!...might as well check to make sure the fuses are tight and all the other electrical connections here under the seat. whats this?? a white male and female plug connecting one single red wire that isnt fully snapped together. bingo!! time for a test ride looking for bumps. that was the ticket!!! thanks for your help guys! i love these forum sites!

Mine I pulled apart all the connections in the ground block and 1 was (burned) black so I moved it to a new spot in the block . This has been the fix for a few people with same type of problem , check the black and white wire with the red plug next to the battery also , good luck
