954 Heating?
I just recently bought a 03’ CBR 954. I got a reasonable deal on it and loved it for the last few months. I recently have noticed that the bike will jump temperature like crazy (will move up from cold start to 177 in like 1.7 mins) and run at 210 – 220 standing still and then fluctuate while moving (mostly 180 in the wind). I checked my coolant and it is good. I was going to change the oil, but it looks clean. Any other suggestions on what I should do? Should I just flush it all? HELP! SUMMER IS COMING!

RE: 954 Heating?
Hey, I check my bike out this weekend and it flucuated between 210 and 225. That is way not right because I know it would have went higher if i let it! what is the first thing i should look at or do? i checked the hoses on both sides and they were both MAJORLY HOT! (206). I am thinking that my thermostat is not working or improperly...WHAT SHOULD I DO??????

RE: 954 Heating?
I actually think it is normal man. mine runs as hot as you said yours does, and I mean the higher one. One way you could cool it down is by running a coolant called 'Ice", or "Blue Ice", something like that. You can pick it up at any bike store, and they will know what you are talking about if you mention those two names. It will help.

RE: 954 Heating?
I talked to my buddy about the heat coming from my 954 and he suggested me to buy a billet radiator fan. he said it should help keep the bike down alittle cooler along with wetter water. The problem is finding a place that sells the billet fan. If anyone knows a site that sells it, shoot me a link.

RE: 954 Heating?
My 954 averages around 180 degrees while riding, but as soon as I sit and idle at a long traffic light, the temperature will climb to between 215-220 degrees. I have never seen it go above 221 degrees even in a hot and humid New Orleans summer. Try water wetter. This will penetrate deep into the pores of the metal in your engine and radiator and allow it to dissipate the heat more efficiently.
