954 heartbreaker!
wuts up everyone! i just got my bike, agreat running03 for 3300 two months ago. it ran great and i know i should have done some servicing to it but i didnt have the money so i just replaced the essentials like the brakes wich were bad and the lights. it needed an oil change but i figured i could just drive it a littleuntil i had the money for it. i put in 1000 miles and the bike started running like CRAP! so now i had to do all the maintenance work to it. I did the tune up and oil change and she ran a lot better but not like when i got it. so i kept on reading your threads and getting to know my bike with the manuals. finally i lifted the gas tank to check the air filter and ???!!!! WTF!!! no air filter!!! i just ordered a k&n from ebay today, but i need to know what else i should service immidiatly? wut damage could my bike have gone through? and there were many windy *** desert days...

RE: 954 heartbreaker!
welcome to the forum, but you will have to be a little more specific about what crap runs like to get a specific answer.
as far as the air filter, k&n isnt the best choice for our bike actuall stock works better than a k&n but i like the BMC filter better.
check the fuel pressure regulator that usually answers a lot of the running like crap issues

RE: 954 heartbreaker!
26,000 miles and I have had no issues with the fuel pressure regulator. Now I think bout it Keyshia Cole(Thats what I call my baby) never had any issues besides spark plugs and that was at 25k and one of the boots came lose. I havent seen any fpr on ebay so try someone like bikebandit.com or ronayers.com

RE: 954 heartbreaker!
30k on mine and still the stock FPR. But that's not what this thread is about....
Your engine could have been damaged by raw sand, it's very possible. When you changed the oil, was there any metal? Oil feel gritty? Either way, Seafoam that bitch (it's a detergent for engine internals), add fresh oil and an air cleaner...you've got it opened up so replace your plugs too. Button it back up and ride...hope it works out for you.
