Default 2002 954 mileage

Well im thinking about buying a 954 from a guy who has had this bike for about 9 months and the bike has 37000 miles but he says the maintenance is done for the mileage. It has a awful paint job and im wondering if i should pass on it or buy hes asking 3450 but i wouldnt pay that i would offer lower.

Holy good god... forget it. To give a comparison... i have just (about a couple of months ago) bought a 2002 954 with 5,000 miles, full service history, all the previous mot's, Leo Vince exhaust and a power commander.... £3,800 (uk based).

The mileage on its own is not the issue, they can do it, but the paint job rings alarm bells all over the place, and the price is just too much for the condition and mileage. There are a lot better out there, it did take me a while to find mine, but be patient and you will come across one.

Where are you from by the way ?

Yea it has a clean title and it seems to be straight i guess the old owner tried to spray paint it or something like that then the owners friend painted it for real to cover it up. Im in chico ca close to sacramento. The only reason i would buy it would be a bike i wouldnt try to sell which would be why i would offer something really low like $2800.

I would say buying a 954 with the average one being 10 years old is like buying a fine wine.... don't rush it. If you buy right then when it comes to sell you will sell it all day long, buy the wrong one and you will never get rid of it. Most prospective buyers want low (ish) miles and a bike that is as mint condition as possible.... bad, diy paint jobs do not even come close. I would not buy it at any price, i came across a lot of rubbish before i finally found the bike i now own, buy in hast and repent in leisure.
